Volunteer opportunity: Crossing guards
At SURF, we do not compromise safety, and Neutrino Day is no exception. One of the most important volunteer positions is right in the center of Lead, serving as a Crossing Guard volunteer across Main Street and US Highway 85.
Our Crossing Guard volunteers make sure our Neutrino Day visitors safely use this central roadway at designated crossing locations and will use appropriate signs and wear high-visibility clothing. The majority of this position is spent standing outdoors, so sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable shoes are must-haves for these volunteers. Hand-held stop signs and safety vests will be provided. There is no set-up or clean-up at this location, making this ideal if you don’t want to miss the final event of the day.
In addition to keeping every visitor safe, our Crossing Guard volunteers will likely be asked questions about area locations and facilities and should be able to provide simple, clear directions. Primarily, watching for and assisting people on both sides of the road to make sure everyone has a safe experience at Neutrino Day is a vital part of what these volunteers will do.
If you are interested in being a Crossing Guard volunteer, sign up today and let us know this is what you would like to do on Neutrino Day. If you have already signed up, send us an email to add this volunteer opportunity to your request.
