Neutrino Day is Sanford Underground Research Facility's (SURF) signature event and a destination for curious minds of all ages. Each year, on the second Saturday of July, this free science festival takes over the city of Lead, South Dakota to inspire science discovery, delight guests in hands-on science experiences, activities and speakers.
Join us for hoistroom tours, visit the ethnobotanical garden, Čhaŋgléška Wakȟáŋ, take part in activities and see science exhibits. Don't miss a live video chat with scientists underground at SURF, and engaging talks about the research happening almost a mile underground. Get ready to experience dozens of hands-on activities with the Little Shop of Physics!
Neutrino Day takes place at locations across Lead, including the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center, the Sanford Underground Research Facility Yates Hoistroom, Čhaŋgléška Wakȟáŋ, Handley Recreation Center, the Hampton Inn, and the Historic Homestake Opera House.
Start your day at the Visitor Center, then take shuttle or stroll along main street to other festival locations throughout Lead.
